Graukogel crossing 2,492 m

The Graukogel is probably the most imposing panoramic, hiking and climbing mountain near Bad Gastein.

The views range from the Tischlerkar, over the Hochkönig to the Dachstein, to name just a few well-known mountain peaks.

We take the Graukogel lifts to the mountain station (1,954 m) and hike under the western slopes of the Graukogel on marked hiking trails to the Palfnersee and on to the Palfnerscharte (2,321 m).

From the saddle we rope up and climb in a rope team on a short rope (difficulty level I-II) over compact rock and slightly exposed ridge to the summit. The descent is via the north ridge. A hiking trail leads to the Hüttenkogel (2,231 m) and back to the mountain station.
